Employee Empowerment Through Learning
Employee Empowerment is the process to give freedom, power, or authority, it is the degree of autonomy and self-determination in the employees. In an organization when we talk about employee empowerment that means organizations are giving them the authority to make their own decisions, giving them the authority to perform various acts or duties on their own without any interference. In other words, we can also say that when organizations are allowing the employees to take the leadership charge, they could see the high yield results in their work, and both organizations and employees are benefitted from the same.
It is very rightly said that the success of any organization whether it is small, medium, or large depends on the employees they have. Organizations and employees both grow together.
Happy, motivated, and satisfied employees always give their hundred percent to work, they stay loyal, they consider the organization as their part and this is only possible when organizations trust them, give them authority to make decisions, support them by respecting their decisions and so on.
Learning is the process that helps the employees in reinforcing their strength and allow them to work in that direction. It helps them in developing self-confidence and builds leadership qualities.
- Encouraging learning and development process in the organization – by doing this on regular basis employees can learn something new. Coaching, mentoring is the best way to empower employees, by doing this a strong bond can be built among the employees where they can teach, learn and share their knowledge with other team members.
- Evaluation by assessment – now when we are talking about giving authority to employees, we also need to find out who is the best to handle these responsibilities. This is possible by giving proper training to the employees, giving proper work education to them, and taking the assessment.
- Providing continuous growth opportunities to the employees – it is not like one time we have conducted the training and then stopped, it should be a continuous process considering employee development. Regular training programs should be conducted(based on the requirement), assessment should be conducted, and the best employee should be rewarded as well. By doing so employee confidence raises and he/she is motivated to work more dedicatedly.
Let us see how to empower your employees-
- Delegation of authority – give them some authority and freedom to make decisions for work. By doing this employee starts showing their potential and perform tasks more enthusiastically and deliver 100 percent result.
- Trust your employees – the most important factor is trust. Trust your employees that they will work for your organization’s benefit only.
- Clear communication channel – when we are working together it is important to have a proper communication channel between employees and the managers/leaders. It will not lead to situations of conflict.
- Recognize employee work – try to recognize employee work from their point of view. Give them the facilities to empower themselves. Give them the tools, pieces of training which they require or which the work demands.
- Give honest and regular feedback – Be honest with your employees by giving regular feedback on their work, by doing this they can identify their strengths and weaknesses and work towards that direction.
Benefits of Employee Empowerment –
As we have already mentioned that success of any organization linked with the employees they possess and how they treat their employees. Now let us see the benefits of employee empowerment-
- Increased productivity
- A satisfied and happy employee
- A trustworthy and healthy relationship
- Positive work environment
- Can go extra mile for companies growth
- Out of box thinking – work with innovations
- Healthy customer relationships
- Personal & professional growth
On a concluding note, employee empowerment though looks simple task to perform but it consumes a lot of time and effort. Here not only organizations are taking part in empowering the employees but the employee itself is responsible whether he needs to grow, whether he is capable of handling the responsibilities and the freedom provided? Organizations can only guide the employees in respect of the work and give them the charge to act upon it.
