Employee Engagement
Engagement is all about the work and the benefits for both the individual and the organization.
Organizations and employees merely not only work together but they share emotions with each other. Employee engagement at the workplace is about commitment, hard work, their respect towards the organizational goals and objectives. When it comes to employee engagement most people think about the games and the activities which keep employees engaged and busy apart from their regular work. But this is not the actual meaning of employee engagement.
When we refer to employees, who are committed to the organization and its goals and objectives that means somewhere he/she believes that the organization care for them, and this belief only encourages employees to go that extra mile and work hard and smart for the organization.
It is also observed that most of the time employee engagement is confused with employee satisfaction. But the question is are the satisfied employee always committed to the organization or they simply happy with the condition in which they are working?
Apart from this, engaged employees are committed, they do not need any external force to motivate, but the question is till when he/she will be committed and work sincerely? And the answer lies in the fact that till the organization gives or shares the feeling of connection, gratitude, till the organization respects and appreciates employees’ work, and till the organization gives the sense of belongingness to the employees in the organization.
Let us see few benefits of the employee engagement activities-
- As the employees are more committed towards the organizational goals and objectives, it helps in increasing the productivity of the organization.
- Trustworthy and healthy relationship – employee engagement helps in building the healthy and trustworthy relationship between the employees and the manager.
- When an organization recognizes the employee work and respect their efforts, they feel connected with the organization and because of this the retention rate increases.
- Helps in improving the customer satisfaction rate. When employees work effortlessly and sincerely with customers, positive energy generates among them which ultimately increases productivity, improves the quality of work, and hence customer gets satisfied.
On a concluding note, employee engagement is not simply an activity of playing games in the organization, it is more of giving employees the feeling of connectivity by sharing the emotions. Employee engagement not only works for improving productivity, but it also helps in building healthy relationships with the customers via committed and satisfied employees. Here employee and manager both must work together to make employee engagement a great success.
